Animator, Director
Vicky Carr
Director (UK)
Vicky Carr is a young director and animator from the UK.
Her short animation "A Flea in a Jar" is taking part in our festival.
This film is based on the fleas in a jar analogy. A female character dreams of becoming a violinist yet is always put down. The obstacles of her mind are hindering her from success.

We asked Vicky to answer our questions about her film.

— Tell us a little about your experience? Was it only a film connected or you did/do something else?
— Hello, My name is Vicky. I am the animator and director of the film A Flea In A Jar. This film was my universitie's graduation film.
— What inspired you to make your short film? How did you come up with that idea?

— I got the idea from the fleas in the jar analogy. When fleas are placed in a jar they can easily jump out however when a lid is placed on the jar, the fleas stop attempting the escape. Even when the lid is removed the fleas will no long jump out the jar. This analogy can be put into our lives as we often limit ourselves and not live up to our full potential.
Deep breathtaking story and vivid colours of "Flea in a Jar"
— Did you have any funny moments on the set? Or scary
— A scary moment was when lockdown started in March. I was half way through production and my university shut down. I ended up animating a large chunk of the animation at home, it was quite scary not knowing what was happing with my university course and working in a new environment.
— Do you have a dream?

— My dream is to one day become an animator for a studio that produces children's television shows. Growing up TV shows helped me grow as a person and the messages still sticks with me to this day, I hope that one day to create the same feeling and inspire the younger generation.
